morning coffee: What Happened on October Ninth

Something big’s going to happen today. Wait.

I’ve written this before, haven’t I?

While it’s possible that either my computer or watch are incorrect, it’s unlikely that both would be wrong simultaneously–unlikelier, still, that they would be wrong together.

But what separates today from yesterday (or tomorrow, even) if the only indicators of progress are the hands on my wristband? I was here on the 9th. I lived the 9th. I have returned today; therefore, I am living the 10th. Right?

But if today is yesterday, then yesterday hasn’t happened yet. So I need to live today as yesterday to make sure yesterday happens today. In case it hasn’t already.

Therefore, I’m opening my yellow notebook after I finish my coffee. I’m flipping to a fresh page, dating it, and writing myself a note.

Trust no one, it will read.

This is not the last you’ll hear of October 9th.

“Morning coffee” is a serial fiction series, served fresh daily. So far, we’ve covered rubberneckers, co-workers, cubicle stains, office plants, desk trophies, conspiracies, secret organizations, pocket dimensions, black holes, and impending, inevitable doom. And that’s just the beginning.

Where should we go next? Let me know in the comment section below.

Stay weird,
